If you followed close enough, you would know my Scion Bit the Dust in Act 2. Yeah I was Pissed! However that is the way of the Nemesis league. I’m obviously going to make another Scion and try NOT to do that again. But that brought up some questions I had about the penalties of RIP’ing in the other leagues and standard games. This is what i learned;
Death
In default leagues, loss of experience is incurred upon death. The penalty is a percentage of the total required for the next level and is applied as follows:
- 0% loss in normal difficulty
- 5% loss in cruel difficulty
- 10% loss in merciless difficulty
Losing experience in this way will not cause you to lose a level
This is what i copied from the wiki. I have to be honest here, I don’t much like death penalties. The fact that you don’t DE-level is what saves it for me. Otherwise the appeal to the entire game my fade pretty rapidly. I fancy myself a bid of a masochist gamer. I was deeply involved in “Demon Souls” and “Dark Souls”. I loved the difficulty and unrelenting manor that it was portrayed. Excellent games. So when I play on the Nemesis league and die, i do tend to get a bit cranky. But that is all in the fun. NO dying in a hardcore game is not fun, but the risk is. So i dust off the pants and jump right the hell back in the ring. Lets see if i can at least get to cruelty this time around!
