This one started out generic. But started to bloom halfway through. I enjoyed this one. I have my nit picks, but all and all it was pretty good. Enough for me to want more..
Another mankind against the monsters with the help/use of hybrid monsters. In this case the monsters are called “Gastrea”. The heroes are made up of Promoter and Initiators. I’ll explain. Gastrea is a virus that attacks human DNA, thus making the victim eventually turn into a nasty beast. Sadly women that were pregnant while having this virus gave birth to girls with astounding strength and ability. They call these girls the “Cursed Children”. These poor things are not just shunned from “civilization” (and I use that term loosely) but in some cased hunted like animals. To the point that even the local law enforcement would feint an arrest to take the child to a secluded place and put as many bullets in them as possible. Quick note on that. Part of what I loved about this anime was the fact that there was always a scenario where you just loathed the mistreatment. Utterly get your blood boiling when these scenes happen. So well done! Seamlessly set up an environment where you made me care for these girls so much, and not even realize it until later.
Back to Promoters and Initiators. Selected Cursed children (Initiators) would be paired up with a civil security agent (Promoter). These promoters are not just an everyday man in blue on the beat. They usually have a very powerful set of skills. Just not as powerful as their partners. I’d like to switch over to names as apposed to Initiator/Promoter.
Enter the leading man and… girl. Rentaro and Enju. So much I love about these two. their relationship as Promoter (Rentaro) and Initiator (Enju) seem a little “I knew that was coming” kind of thing. To Rentaro, Enju and the rest of the cursed children are human and deserve to be treated as such. Where people see monsters ready to eliminate humanity, Rentaro can see mistreated little girls. Because of that way of thinking and acting, all the cursed children fall in love with him. It’s funny and cute. Except for Enju. She WILL be marrying Rentaro. That’s it. It’s not a wish. Its a fact. Through the whole 13 episode season their bonds grew stronger. Another thing I liked a lot was the faith they had in each other. Very little did one say to the other; “Stay out of this! I don’t want you to get hurt”! And thank the goddess for that. Yes its cute in some anime. Please just give me people that can rely on each other and not just say it. Battle is underway. They look at each other. The look saying everything. Then off to battle. There are sentimental scenes too. It wouldn’t be anime without them. But… Just.. Thank you!
Lastly the ending. I’m sorry for this, but i’m going to leave you hanging a little. Some parts I really did NOT see coming. I’ll add that these parts are the after thoughts from the big ending sequence. So much I want to talk about. But these spoilers I can’t bring myself to talk about. it has to be seen.
There is hope friends! As usual I hit the Interwebs to see about another season. There will be thankfully. We will know more closer to the summer. It looks like July may be the release. Now I just need Crunchyroll to get that on simulcast. lol
As always I leave the rest to you. Enjoy this one. I did.
